Conference interpreters provide an important service that allows people of different languages and cultures to understand each other. It is a service that has a cultural, intellectual and social value, in addition [05] to its economic value. It cannot be ruled exclusively by price considerations or by individual greed. The profession of conference interpretation has a single worldwide professional body to represent it, which makes it easier for members of the profession to follow the same [10] ethical guidelines everywhere.
If conference interpreters follow the ethical principles enshrined in the AIIC (International Association of Conference Interpreters) Code of Professional Ethics, they will be able to:
(i) [15] provide a quality service to their users and thereby to the purpose of their profession;
(ii) maintain good relations with their colleagues and their clients;
(iii) uphold the technical standards that are essential to [20] the proper exercise of our profession;
(iv) attract new qualified interpreters into the profession; and
(v) maintain decent levels of remuneration that quality deserves.
[25] We must not abandon our old tenets lightly, but must strive to improve them, to modernise them where necessary. The advantage of ethical principles is that they are general, they are guidelines, they can adapt to different cultures and situations without losing their [30] essence.

The principles listed above which are, literally or implicitly, referred to in Text III are, ONLY
(A) I and II.
(B) I and IV.
(C) I, II and IV.
(D) II, III and IV.
(E) I, II, III and V.
02. Gatilho (Trigger): A restrição estrita imposta pelo termo "ONLY" combinado com o mapeamento duplo "literally or implicitly".
05. Discriminação (Discrimination): Neutralizar a armadilha do item IV (sigilo), que embora real no mundo prático, constitui um assunto fora do escopo do fragmento.
A única combinação matricial perfeita e exaustiva. O texto ancora o princípio I em *'new qualified interpreters'*, o II em *'maintain good relations with their colleagues'*, o III na defesa do *'purpose of their profession'*, e o V de forma implícita ao exigir a manutenção dos *'technical standards... essential to the proper exercise'*. Descarta com precisão a armadilha do sigilo (IV).
Controle de Fragmentação Restritiva (A): Isola e desarma a tendência de marcar a primeira opção plausível encontrada. O estudante apressado localiza a correspondência de I e II e marca a alternativa A, sofrendo a punição do preenchimento incompleto.

Peça Operativa Principal: Cross-Referencing Statements / Paraphrase Mapping / Scope Validation / Distractor Exclusion
SILO 3 — Contextual
contentTopic: 25. Travel, Tourism & Culture
subtheme: Professional Ethics, Codes of Conduct and Structural Principles in Conference Interpretation
Reading Comprehension do SILO 2. Travel, Tourism & Culture do SILO 3.
